Our Visit to African Silks
Silk is a fabric that evokes the senses and is rich in history. It's luxurious and has been used for centuries to create beautiful clothing and adornments. Ever since I was a little girl, silk has always intrigued me. I remember my mom showing me silk scarves from Japan which had belonged to my grandparents. The stories told through these silks were incredible. So when I stumbled across an authentic African Silk shop, I was beyond excited to explore! Little did I know that I would be in for a cultural experience I'd remember forever.

Did I Travel, or was I Transported in Time?
It may sound like a silly question, but yesterday while driving through the fields of the Limpopo area of South Africa I was immediately transported back to summers on the farm in North Dakota. I believe this crazy-real nostalgic feeling hit me because when I was a little girl my Mom and I would often drive the bumpy dirt roads to bring my Dad his lunch in the field. Driving the same dirt roads in South Africa brought me back to those glorious summer days from my childhood.
